What are dental implants?

They consist of a titanium screw that is surgically placed in the jawbone and acts as an artificial tooth root. A crown or bridge is attached to the implant, looking and feeling like a natural tooth.

At Swedish Dental in Stockholm, we offer dental implants using the latest technology, ensuring high quality and long-lasting results.

Our experienced dentists and specialists support you throughout the entire process, from consultation to the finished implant.

  • Long-lasting durability – With proper care, implants can last a lifetime.
  • Prevents bone loss – Stimulates the jawbone and prevents it from breaking down.
  • Improved chewing ability – Unlike dentures, implants stay firmly in place.
  • Comfortable and easy – No risk of slipping or causing discomfort.

Navigation Surgery – The Latest Technology in Dental Implants

Navigation surgery revolutionizes the way we place dental implants. With the help of digital 3D technology, we can plan and carry out the treatment with extreme precision.

This means shorter procedures, faster healing, and optimal results for each patient. At Swedish Dental, we use this advanced technique to ensure that your dental implant fits perfectly from day one.

Guided surgery for dental implants

Guided surgery for dental implants has improved the situation for patients. Dental implant surgeries used to be a method that caused pain, swelling, and bruising. Guided surgery for dental implants has revolutionised the treatment method.

For us, guided surgery (computer-assisted implant treatment) has been a traditionally safe and proven method since the turn of the millennium, while it is a new technique for many other clinics.

Now we are moving forward and launching navigation surgery, which is the next step in the development of computer-assisted implant treatments. This method gives dentists more control and contributes to safer treatment during the operation.

This method requires a 3-dimensional X-ray (CBCT) to map the jawbone before surgery. After the X-ray image is taken, the dentist transfers the information to the Navident® computer program where the operation is planned. We can then determine how the jawbone changes depending on where you are on the X-ray image.

This contributes to very safe and accurate planning before the operation. This method of keyhole surgery differs from previous methods with guides as the dentist can orient themselves in real-time within the jawbone during the operation. The dentist sees exactly what they are doing and where they are in the jawbone on the computer screen in front of them.

Navigation surgery for dental implants is the very latest and gives the dentist more control during the operation than before, and has virtually eliminated pain, swelling, and bruising after surgery.

Free consultation for dental implants

The first visit includes a free consultation. You will receive a cost estimate and a preliminary treatment plan.

CT scan and conventional X-rays

Assessment with conventional X-rays, supplemented with a CT scan (3-dimensional X-ray to map the jawbone), is carried out at our practice.

Treatment planning with the patient

The dentist presents a treatment plan for you. We show how and where the implants will be placed and what the bridge will look like. We explain the different steps of the treatment to you. Once you have approved the treatment, we get started. Any treatment of cavities (caries), infections, periodontitis, and tartar will be carried out if diagnosed during the assessment.

Dental implant surgery

The surgery usually takes no more than 1 hour. In an edentulous jaw, between 4–6 screws (implants) are placed. The procedure is uncomplicated and is performed under local anaesthesia. Healing of the dental implants normally takes between 2–12 weeks, depending on how many teeth are to be replaced. During the healing period, the jawbone fuses around the implants. If all teeth in a jaw are replaced, you can receive the implant teeth ten working days after the surgery.

Delivery of the implant teeth

This takes between 2–12 weeks, depending on how many teeth are to be replaced. Your new fixed teeth are produced as a bridge construction. They are mounted on top of the screws. Now you and those around you can see the result: completely new teeth that resemble your natural teeth. If you are a dentist and would like to know more, read more at Sddental.
