If you experience sensitivity, an examination is advisable to rule out cavities and other causes that could lead to root canal treatments. We usually say there are two different types of sensitivity. Sensitivity that subsides fairly quickly after eating or drinking something hot/cold, or sensitivity that lasts for several minutes.

Sensitivity that lasts for several minutes should be observed carefully. If you have these symptoms, you should contact us immediately as it may be due to inflammation of the nerve. It is important that we can rule out inflammation or treat the tooth adequately.

When we examine your tooth and look for the cause of the sensitivity, we check for cavities, fractures, cracks, and infections. We do this both clinically and with X-rays. Sometimes we also need to stimulate the tooth in various ways to determine the diagnosis. Once we have diagnosed what is causing your sensitivity/pain, you will receive a cost estimate for the treatment itself, and once you give your approval, we will begin the therapy.
